How to delete your Sprakly account
Updated 22 October 2026.
In the app or on the website
Deleting your account works the same way in the Android app and in the browser at sprakly.com:
- Sign in to Sprakly.
- Open the menu (☰) → Settings.
- At the bottom, under Danger zone, tap or click Delete account.
- Type the confirmation word shown on the screen (DELETE in English; in other interface languages it is the word for “delete” in that language, for example ВИДАЛИТИ in Ukrainian, USUŃ in Polish, 删除 in Chinese or LÖSCHEN in German) and tap Delete forever.
Your account and your data are deleted straight away, apart from the records described under “What is kept, and for how long” below. This cannot be undone.
If you cannot delete your account yourself
If you cannot sign in, or deleting in the app fails, write to info@sprakly.com from the email address you sign in with (the address of your Google account), with “Delete my account” as the subject. If you no longer have access to that address, write from a different one and tell us which address your account uses — we may ask a question or two to make sure the account is yours. We delete the account without undue delay and confirm this by email, no later than one month after we receive your request, and usually much sooner.
What is deleted
- your account, profile and settings;
- your learning data: texts, vocabulary, progress in lessons, grammar and the course, Norskprøven practice attempts, children's profiles;
- your messages and attachments in the developer chat;
- your answers to the waitlist questions and in-app surveys, your AI usage counts, and the record that you have a founding-member or sponsor price;
- your customer record with our payment provider Stripe: your saved card details are removed there, and a Premium subscription bought on the website ends at once — you will not be charged again.
Data kept only on your device (for example an unsent Norskprøven writing draft, recordings in the free oral practice, and settings stored in the browser) disappears when you uninstall the app or clear the site data. Anonymous quotes from survey answers that we have already published on our website (without your name) remain unless you ask us to remove them.
What is kept, and for how long
- Payment records — amount, date, the email address and name on the receipt, and your request to start Premium immediately. They are kept by Stripe (and by Link, a Stripe company, if it was the reseller for your purchase) and in our accounting records for as long as the Norwegian Bookkeeping Act requires — usually 5 years after the end of the financial year.
- A one-way, keyed hash of your email address (not the address itself) — 12 months, so that the free trial cannot be claimed twice.
- Voice recordings — we do not store them. Our speech-recognition provider Groq may keep a recording for up to 30 days, without your name or email address and only to investigate errors or abuse.
- If you accepted marketing cookies on our website, data already sent to Meta (for example a hashed email address at registration) is held by Meta under its own policy — see our Privacy Policy.
- Emails between you and us (for example, your deletion request and our confirmation) — we keep them in our mailbox for as long as we need them to show that we handled your request, and for no longer than 12 months. Our email provider Resend and our hosting and database providers (Vercel and Supabase) keep technical logs, which are deleted automatically after a short time.
- Backup copies of our database — your data disappears from them in the normal backup cycle, within 30 days.
More details: Privacy Policy, section “How long we keep data”.
Premium and refunds
If you paid less than 14 days ago, or have months left on a yearly plan, write to us before deleting your account — you may be entitled to a refund (Terms of Service, sections 6, 7 and 13). Deleting the account is not in itself a withdrawal from the purchase or a refund request, and any remaining Premium time ends with the account. If you have already deleted your account, you can still write to us from the email address you used to sign in — we can find your payment in Stripe. To withdraw from the purchase, send us a clear statement that you are withdrawing before the 14-day withdrawal period ends (Terms of Service, section 7).
Premium cannot be bought in the Android app; a subscription bought on the website ends automatically when you delete your account (see “What is deleted” above).
