What a day of learning looks like

No need to decide where to start: the home screen suggests your next step.

Morning: words in your headphones

On your way to work, Sprakly says a Norwegian word, then its English translation. You don’t need to look at the screen. Choose words at your level, words from your own texts or phrases.

The “Listen hands-free” screen: choose a word set and start listening.

Lunch break: five minutes of grammar

A short rule, then you build a sentence from word tiles. Got it wrong? Sprakly shows which word is out of place and, where it can, explains why. In common cases, another correct word order counts too.

Try it right here: tap the words to build the sentence.

She read a book.

Evening: words to review

The 500 most common words as “know it / don’t remember” cards. Words from your texts keep coming back for review until they stick. There’s also a “Build the sentence” trainer.

Word card for kanskje (adverb) with “Don’t remember” and “Know it” buttons.

When a letter arrives: a real text

News from your region, a letter from the tax office or a photo of a sign. Tap a word to see its translation and hear how it sounds, and it’s saved to your vocabulary.

There’s a graded library from A1 to C2, short news items from all of Norway and nine regions with a link to the full article, and you can upload your own PDF and EPUB files.

A letter in Norwegian: the word innen is highlighted, with the translation “within”.

Listen, then retell it in English

Open any text and listen to it sentence by sentence. After each one, retell it out loud in your own words, in English. Sprakly checks how well you understood and shows what the sentence actually says.

You’ll need a microphone. Up to 30 retelling checks a day.

What beta participants say

More than 300 people signed up before launch. Below are a few answers from an in-app survey taken only by closed-beta participants in 2026, shown in translation.

“It’s the best language-learning program I’ve tried…”

“It’s the realisation that you understand the language.”

Frequently asked questions

What if I’m a complete beginner?
Start with the 500 most common words and the first grammar lessons, then open an A1 text. You choose your level and can change it any time; the app works out the level of each text on its own.
Does Sprakly help with Norskprøven?
There’s no dedicated Norskprøven practice section in the English interface. Sprakly helps you practise reading real texts and listening comprehension, along with grammar and vocabulary — all of which are useful for the exam. It isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by HK-dir (the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills); check its website for current rules and dates.
Is it free?
There’s a Free plan with no time limit: unlimited reading with tap-to-translate and read-aloud, the most common words as cards (500 for Norwegian), audio practice and dialogues, the first 4 grammar lessons and up to 100 words you’re learning. Premium is 129 NOK a month or 890 NOK a year, and for 2 days after you first sign in, all of Premium is included — no card needed. Learning Spanish? The first 5 lessons of the Spanish audio course are free too.
Which languages can I learn?
Norwegian, Spanish, German, Ukrainian, Russian and Chinese. Spanish also has a 140-lesson audio course from A1 to C1. The interface, translations and explanations stay in English; the table on this page shows what each language includes.
How is Sprakly different from a Norwegian course?
Sprakly is for learning on your own — there’s no live teacher. What you get instead is flexibility: you can study whenever you like, at your own pace, with grammar that explains your mistakes, spaced-repetition review of words, real texts and listen-and-retell practice. It works well alongside a course, or on its own.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Cancel any time in Settings — Premium stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Changed your mind? Write to us within 14 days of your first payment and we’ll refund you, minus the cost of the days since payment.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Sprakly runs in the browser on your phone, tablet and computer, and you can add it to your home screen if you like.
